About Us

Kilmaley Day Care Centre opened in 2004 providing a much needed service for the people of Kilmaley and surrounding parishes. It is funded by a yearly grant from the HSE.

The aim of the centre is to enhance the lives of those who attend, both socially, psychologically, physically, spiritually and to meet their health and social needs, thus ensuring the best outcome. Early intervention can prevent problems in health of the body and mind.

Our aim is to ensure that the clients enjoy a comfortable, supportive and cheerful environment. Nutritious meals that accommodate special diets are served daily.

We provide a bus to transport clients to the centre to avail of the facilities and services that are offered. This ensures that clients can remain in their own homes in their community for as long as possible. It also enables people the opportunity to interact and meet with their relations, friends and indeed make new friends.

We focus on enriching the participants’ lives, building upon their skills, knowledge and unique abilities and strengths.

Below are some of the activities that are available:

  • Arts and Crafts
  • Musical entertainment and singing
  • Mental stimulation games such as bingo, word searches, crosswords and card playing.
  • Stretching and other gentle exercises.
  • Discussion groups (books, quizes, current affairs) which can be enjoyable and educational.

The children from the local national school and pre-school visit much to the delight of the clients, indeed many of them would have grandparents attending the centre.

A comprehensive assessment of each client and ongoing monitoring of their needs is maintained.

There is a hairdressing service provided on a daily basis.

The centre provides local employment with a Manager, Nurse, Chef, 9 Care Assistants, Bus Driver and Ancillary Staff.

There is an independent living facility of 24 houses attached to the Day Care Centre. These houses are purpose built and have access to the church and local shop.
